Since my Bob Marley model took off so immediately, here is another Jamaican artist I happened to enjoy the music of, Peter Tosh. Coincidentally, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh were both contributing factors of songwriting for the Wailers in the late 60's to early 70's until Peter and fellow Wailers member Bunny Wailer left the group for solo careers in 1973. Peter Tosh went to go on and have a good successful solo career until he was murdered in 1987. His songs I happened to listen to could be on par with Bob Marley's as they were both great song artists. Personally if you ask me, I consider them as the songwriting partnership equivalent of John Lennon and Paul McCartney of Jamaica. Now that might be a personal hottake but that's just me.
