Paulina "Pau" Villarreal Vélez (born February 5 2002) is a Mexican musician who is a drummer singer and songwriter for the band The Warning alongside her sisters Daniela and Alejandra. Paulina has won multiple drumming awards including the 2023 Drumeo Rock Drummer of the Year award for which Pau beat out several top drummers. Paulina's drumming prowess was evident from a young age: when she was just twelve years old Kirk Hammett of Metallica praised her drumming saying "The drummer kicks maximum ass." Paulina trades off lead vocal duties with guitarist Dany so there are two lead singers in this band. This puts Pau in a rare category: rock drummers who also sing lead vocals. In addition to drumming and singing Pau also handles the entire stage experience during the band's live shows using a laptop computer on her left equipped with Ableton Live 10 plus two special MIDI pedals to control the timing of the show additional instrumentation and the visuals appearing on the screen behind the band. Paulina uses a DW Collectors Series drum set pink Vic Firth drumsticks Remo drum skins and Sabian cymbals which she's been using since she was six years old.
