Joseph Ross Piasek was born on April 22, 1950 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He is known for his educator, producer, author, as well as a voiceover for Nickelodeon like on Nick Rocks. He also voices Up and Adam, hosts of Nick in the Morning.

Joe began his career as a radio personality (Joe from Chicago) at a variety of stations including WCID (Cape Cod), WPLR (New Haven), WCOZ (Boston), and WPIX (New York), and moved to television when MTV Network re-launched Nickelodeon as a commercial network.

Currently on the faculty of both New York University and SUNY Delhi, and formerly Associate Professor adjunct at Quinnipiac University (1981-2006), Joe has authored several essays on media, including those published in Anthony Chan’s Dao of Communication text and the Christopher Sterling’s Encyclopedia of Radio. Professor Piasek earned his PhD in education, specializing in media, an MA in communication, a BA in history, and studied popular culture with Henry Jenkins and media literacy with Neil Postman.

Joe gets jazzed from reading textbooks, jamming, cooking hot peppered dishes, and the fascinating medium of wiggle pictures.
