Ishmael is a 'Watcher' and a 'Gatekeeper of Ascension'. She is an ascended mortal from a previously doomed civilization. In her ascended form she can freely manipulate cosmic dimensional energy, even so she is limited by entities of even higher power than her that restrict and set forth 'rules' on her for what their kind can and cannot do to directly interfere with lesser civilizations. One of her main purposes is to open the "Gate" for those who passed her trials in order to guide them into joining the ranks of the ascended to be granted the 'truth of the stars'.
