Taiyo Tobi (トビ・タイヨウ) is a minor character from the Mr. Driller series. He is the youngest son of Taizo Hori and Masuyo Tobi, and youngest brother of Susumu Hori and Ataru Hori. He suffers from claustrophobia, so he wants to become a space pilot instead of a Driller. He had recently obtained his pilot license. He is also a member of the Star Trigon Team in the anime. He is 34 (As of 2024, but 20 as of 2024 anime). He was voiced by Kazue Ikura from 2001-2003 because Ikura's voice was a bit too low so Studio OLM decided that Risa Mizuno (Anna's current actress) would voice Taiyo until 2010 and he is currently voiced by Rumi Shishido since 2010. Taiyo seems to be a nice, but stubborn person. In a Mr. Driller G cutscene, he apologizes for not being careful in another cutscene. Taiyo is also more of a mama's boy since he received a lot of love from her growing up. He actively supports drillers including his brothers, despite his claustrophobia. He has a very childish demeanor, and his very youthful looks tend to fool everyone. Because of his appearance and personality, Inez became attracted to him in the season 9 episode "Dear My Future". He and Inez got engaged in March 2019 He was voiced by Japanese voice actress Kazue Ikura. She also provides the voice of Shiratama from Soreike! Anpanman Then he was voiced by Risa Mizuno, who provides Anna and Shout Hikaru from Bomberman Jetters He is voiced by Joanna Ruiz in the UK dub. Joanna also voiced Milli in Team Umizoomi, Trixie and Pixel in Lazytown, Amy in Bananas in Pyjamas and much more. Joanna also sang the UK version of the Pinky Dinky Doo intro He and Inez got married on September 20, 2019 He was born on Cinco De Mayo He is secretly Sima Hori's favorite nephew in the Mr Driller Drill Spirits/Jetters manga He shares his voice actress with Onpu Segawa from Ojamajo Doremi and June Amou from Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live.
