(Singing, and somewhat good screams) Gerard Arthur Way is an American singer, songwriter, and comic book writer, best known as the lead singer and co-founder of the alternative rock band My Chemical Romance. The band is credited with helping to popularize emo, a punk rock subgenre that combines confessional lyrics with punk aggression. Way formed My Chemical Romance in New Jersey with drummer Matt Pelissier shortly after the September 11 attacks. The band went on hiatus after 2010's Danger Days.
