Description

Gilgamesh (ギルガメス Girugamesu), also known as Gil (ギル Giru), is a character from the Babylonian Castle Saga. Gil is one of the main characters and protagonists of the franchise, first appearing in The Tower of Druaga. Gilgamesh is a human prince who has ventured to the Tower of Druaga and had slayed the demon Druaga. Following his debut, Gil has appeared in several games, in the series and in Namco-related media. His voice is provided by Charlie Campbell. In the UK dub, he is voiced by Peter Kay, he also provides the voice for Chuta Bigbang and Dr. Z. He is patterned after the Gilgamesh of Sumerian legend. Gilgamesh has appeared or has received cameos in various Namco related media. Although Gil was absent in the story of The Quest of Ki, he appears in the end of the extra floors with Ki to compliment the player. Gil, along with Ki, are playable characters as a single unit in Namco x Capcom. Gil attacks at close range and Ki at long distances. They can also use a Multiple Assault with Arthur from the Ghosts 'n Goblins series. Gil has appeared various times throughout the PlayStation Namco Museum series. In Namco Museum Volume 3, the opening scene shows Gil inside the Tower of Druaga, where he opens a treasure chest and is surprised to find Pac-Man inside. He also appears walking in the loading screen and fights against Druaga in the hidden room. Gil appears in the opening from Namco Museum Volume 4, where he is shown alongside Ki as stone figures, before they become real due to the magic power spread by a disc which Pac-Man has run off with. Gil appears with Ki in Namco Museum Volume 3 and 4's theater room, where they can be seen on the bottom floor as the audience, as well as appearing in hidden exhibit rooms for The Tower of Druaga and The Return of Ishtar in Volume 3 and 4. Gil appears in the intro of Namco Museum Encore, in which he represents Volume 3 of the Namco Museum series alongside other characters from previous Namco Museum entries. Gil has appeared in several Famista related games. Gil appears as a bonus fruit in the 2020 NES demaster of Pac-Man Championship Edition, in one of it's alternate themes alongside Ki. His appearence in the Mr. Driller Series is through a cameo in Drill Land in the Drill Dreamin' Parade, where he appears with Ki on a dragon float.
