Myriam Raquel Hernández Navarro (born May 2, 1965 in Santiago, Chile) is one of the most celebrated Latin‑pop balladeers of her generation. Nicknamed “La baladista de América,” she rose to fame in the late 1980s with her self‑titled debut album and the smash hit “El hombre que yo amo,” which reached No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks in 1989 . Over a career spanning dozens of albums—including the recent Tauro (2024)—she’s sold over 10 million physical records, marking her as one of Chile’s top-selling artists . Frequently topping Latin charts, her hits like “Peligroso amor,” “Te pareces tanto a él,” “Herida,” “Huele a peligro” and “Ese hombre” reflect her flair for emotive, heartfelt ballads . Beyond music, she’s hosted Chile’s prestigious Viña del Mar International Song Festival (2002–2006) and in 2025 became the first woman to receive a Platinum Gaviota there . Her television presence and philanthropic outreach have further deepened her impact both in her homeland and across Latin America. A decorated artist, Myriam earned a 2011 Latin Grammy nomination for Seducción, received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 (the first Chilean woman to do so), and was honored with the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Latin Recording Academy’s President’s Merit Award .
