Coach Dan was originally married to a woman named Carole where they had a daughter, Paula and eventually another named Laurie. But sometime before the event of the show, Coach Dan and Carole got divorced. Since then, he had been living on his own in a motel room.

Yuwen is the typical 'mean kid', always making fun of others for the sake of levity. His teammates on the Pickles is a textbook demonstration of such since he mostly records their fails on his cell phones and puts them on the internet for everyone to see and laugh at. Though he doesn't seem to have any malicious intent, since when showing Laurie the humiliating video he posted of her failing to hit the ball at their softball game, he was expecting her to laugh along, suggesting he lacks emotional intelligence. Yet, there is more to this obnoxious bully then meets the eye as he has a very self conscious "inner self" who harbors a secret crush on fellow Pickles teammate, Taylor. After he and Taylor become a couple, Yuwen becomes more good-natured, and starts showing his "true self" to Taylor both metaphorically and literally. In return, Taylor also reveals she also has an imaginary "true self" which likely explains how they grew so quickly as a couple. Unfortunately, Yuwen's insecure side takes over once Taylor starts befriending their teammate Tom, leading to Yuwen to get paranoid in believing that Taylor is seeing Tom behind his back, which soon leads to Taylor dumping him when Yuwen won't give his insecurity a rest.

Ira is a very imaginative young boy, often stuck in his own little world that he sees from a discarded toilet paper spool, which is typical for someone of his age. He also adores his big sister Taylor, but she is busy with her softball games. All that changes one day when he befriends three teenage wannabe crooks called the Bleacher Creatures, and he ends up getting his sister's attention; so that she can stop him from helping these delinquents steal from the concession stand at the ballpark.

Ira (Win or Lose)

Taylor has one headache in life, her little brother Ira. She constantly finds herself having to pull Ira away from getting into any sort of trouble, which gets complicated when she begins dating the school jerk, Yuwen Wang. Taylor has a huge temper on her, whether it be dealing her brother's mischief or Yuwen whenever he acts insecure after he thinks Taylor likes Tom, which culminates in a nasty break-up. Despite finding him annoying, Taylor does care about Ira, as shown when she worriedly tells him not to befriend the Bleacher Creatures, finding them to be bad influence on Ira. She is also willing to defend Ira against said delinquent duo when they try to attack him for interfering with their heist.

Frank has a reputation of giving foul calls during softball games, which earns him the ire of most softball-crazed fans. He is also a very defensive man, standing by his decisions no matter the outcome, which is manifested by him imagining himself projecting a suit of armor to defend himself against any opposition. This unfortunately has also made Frank very condescending and rude, often dismissing the kindness of and talking down to others. He seems to be ambivalent in starting a relationship with any girl. His want for a relationship is because he is a very lonely person, due to the breakup of a past girlfriend.
